Program Description

PhD candidates in Economic Management at Thanh Do University are fully equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary for managerial and organizational governance in the era of Industry 4.0. At the same time, they develop skills in synthesizing, analyzing information, discovering and solving problems creatively; skills in thinking, independent and unique research, creating new knowledge; skills in disseminating and popularizing knowledge, establishing national and international cooperation networks in the management and operation of economic activities; demonstrating creativity, the ability to self-orient and lead professionally, the ability to make conclusions and scientific recommendations of an expert in the field of economic management.

Business management is a field that deals with the management and administration of business, finance and economics in organisations and enterprises, focusing on the application of economic and management principles to optimise performance and achieve business objectives.

Business management is highly interdisciplinary, providing a broad base for career opportunities in many industries and sectors, including banking, finance, real estate, marketing, project management, business consulting and public administration. From senior management positions to economic analysts, business management offers a wide range of career opportunities and plays an important role in the success of organisations and enterprises. 

Admission conditions

Requirements for PhD application:

• Hold a Bachelor’s degree with distinction or higher or a Master’s degree in the same or a relevant field aligned with the PhD program.
• Possess prior research experience, demonstrated through: a Master’s thesis from a research-oriented program; or at least one scientific publication in a journal or a paper presented at a national/international conference with an ISBN-registered proceeding, related to the intended research topic; or a minimum of 2 years (24 months) of experience as a lecturer or researcher at an academic or scientific institution.
• Submit a draft research proposal (approximately 3,000 words) and a comprehensive study and research plan for the entire PhD period.
• Provide a letter of recommendation from one scholar (with the title of Professor, Associate Professor, or a PhD/Doctor of Science), who has collaborated with the applicant professionally and is knowledgeable about the proposed research field.
• Provide a recognized certificate of foreign language proficiency in accordance with current regulations.

Application Documents

1. PhD Application Form with confirmation from the referring institution (must include a photo with an official stamp).
2. Certified copies of the following academic credentials:
   • Bachelor’s degree and transcript
   • Master’s degree and transcript (not required for applicants applying directly from the undergraduate level)
   • Certificate of foreign language proficiency
   • For degrees issued by foreign institutions: a notarized Vietnamese translation and a Recognition Certificate issued by the Department of Quality Management, Ministry of Education and Training
3. Original Letter of Recommendation
4. Official Nomination Letter from the applicant’s current organization (for public officials/civil servants, in accordance with regulations on training and development)
5. Original Draft Research Proposal
6. Copies of scientific publication(s) or conference paper(s)
7. Two recent 3×4 cm photos, white background, with full name and date of birth clearly written on the back
