The history of Thanh Do University (TDU) began in 2004, with the foundation of Thanh Do College of Technology, one of Vietnam’s pioneering private higher education institutions. The University officially started operating under its current name on May 27, 2009.

Guided by its educational philosophy, “Being an ICON” - Intelligence, Capability, Objectivity, and Nature - Thanh Do University is committed to developing graduates who are innovative, resilient, ethical, and socially responsible. Its mission is to create an integrated Work-Integrated Learning and Living (WILL) environment that meaningfully connects academic learning, practical experience, and personal development.

The University offers application-oriented programmes from diploma to doctoral level across a broad range of disciplines, including Health Sciences, Engineering and Technology, Business, Languages, Law, and Education.

Over the past two decades, TDU has achieved important milestones in quality assurance, educational innovation, scientific research, and international collaboration. The University is nationally accredited and has achieved institutional accreditation for Cycle 2 (2026 - 2031) under the quality standards of the Ministry of Education and Training. It has also been ranked among the leading private universities in ASEAN by AppliedHE and received a Certificate of Merit from the Ministry of Education and Training in recognition of its outstanding achievements.

In 2025, Thanh Do University further strengthened its international profile by earning a 4-Star QS Stars rating in its first assessment under the newly introduced QS Stars standards. This milestone reflects the University’s continuing commitment to delivering high-quality, internationally recognized education.
