WACE is a global membership-based non-profit organization and the only international professional body dedicated to developing, expanding, positioning, and advocating for cooperative education and work-integrated education across both the education and business sectors. WACE has a long history of development. It was founded in 1983 by university leaders, education professionals, and employers from Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, the Philippines, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Today, the WACE network brings together 10 national associations and 40 higher education institutions from 28 countries around the world.

Thanh Do University’s membership in WACE marks an important step in the university’s strategic direction toward developing an application-oriented university model and strengthening connections among education, research, enterprises, and the labor market. Through the WACE network, the university will have greater opportunities to access good practices, international research, professional development programs, academic conferences, and innovative initiatives in designing curricula linked to professional environments.

WACE organizes two major biennial events: the WACE International Conference and the International Research Symposium. The WACE International Conference 2027 is scheduled to take place in Bangkok, Thailand, under the theme “Reimagining WIL/CWIE for a Volatile and Uncertain Future.”

WACE also provides a high-quality system of academic resources, including the Global Quality Work-Integrated Learning Framework, introduced as the first global quality framework for work-integrated learning. This framework provides guidance for higher education institutions, industry partners, community organizations, and students in designing, implementing, and evaluating high-quality WIL activities. In addition, WACE publishes the International Journal of Work-Integrated Learning (IJWIL), a Scopus-indexed journal ranked Q2 in Education. WACE also runs a research grant program for association members, with calls for proposals issued every two years.

Thanh Do University’s membership in WACE provides an important foundation for the university to further develop training programs connected with professional practice, strengthen collaboration with enterprises, enhance students’ international integration capacity, and contribute to the innovation of higher education toward application, practical learning, and the development of future human resources.
