Creative Commons Licenses

Creative Commons is a nonprofit organization providing standardized licenses that enable creators to share their work while retaining selected rights. These licenses offer flexible copyright options ranging from the most open to more restrictive forms.

The principal CC licenses include:

  • CC BY (Attribution): Allows reuse, adaptation, and commercial use with proper attribution.
  • CC BY-SA (Attribution-ShareAlike): Requires derivative works to be licensed under identical terms.
  • CC BY-ND (Attribution-NoDerivatives): Permits redistribution without modification.
  • CC BY-NC (Attribution-NonCommercial): Allows reuse and adaptation for non-commercial purposes only.
