Contrastive Linguistics is a field that conducts in-depth studies of various linguistic aspects by comparing and contrasting different languages. The goal is to identify similarities and differences between languages in order to draw informed conclusions and propose effective approaches to language learning and usage.
Program Overview
This program provides students with theoretical knowledge and practical techniques in language comparison, along with insights into intercultural and cross-cultural perspectives between Eastern and Western linguistic traditions. It aims to strengthen and enhance students’ ability to compare different languages, describe language from a critical standpoint, synthesize aspects of linguistic variation, and evaluate English learning materials for language learners.
Upon completion of the Master’s program in Contrastive Linguistics with an applied research orientation, graduates will have a solid academic foundation in linguistics and a solid academic foundation in general linguistics and Vietnamese linguistics. They will possess proficient professional skills in teaching, translation – interpretation, and cross-linguistic analysis. Additionally, they will be capable of working independently, creatively, and effectively solving problems within their area of specialization.
