On the morning of June 15, the Faculty of Tourism and Foreign Languages at Thanh Do University successfully held the Final Round of the English Speaking Contest 2023, drawing enthusiastic participation from students across faculties. The contest brought together a diverse range of personalities and vibrant “colors,” showcasing the creativity, confidence, and spirit of Thadoers.

English, more than just a language, is a powerful tool for accessing global information, building confidence in communication, and adapting flexibly in study, work, and daily life.

English Speaking Contest - TDU 2023, A Stage to Shine and Grow

The English Speaking Contest serves as a platform for students to express themselves in English, overcome personal limits, and develop confidence in public speaking. The key to learning English confidently lies in embracing mistakes and learning through interaction — a philosophy deeply reflected in the competition’s spirit.

After a rigorous preliminary round, five outstanding contestants advanced to the final, competing in two sections: Quick Response (Warm-up) and Presentation, where each contestant presented their chosen topic in front of the judges and audience.

Nguyen Huu Quang (D112K13) confidently presented on Physical Education, offering practical tips for student health improvement

Tran Thi Thao (D112K12) impressed the audience with the topic Why Student Travel is Important, delivering engaging insights into travel’s educational value.

Tong Le (D108K12) presented Learning English with Students, discussing both challenges and opportunities in mastering the language

Chu Duc Thang (D01K12) from the IT Faculty brought humor and depth to the topic Mental Health

Bui Nhu Phuong (D112K13) explored Video Games, analyzing their benefits and limitations for students

The contest also featured an interactive audience game, Catch the Word, adding excitement and participation from all attendees

After careful evaluation based on language use, logic, presentation skills, and body language, the judging panel announced the winners:

• First Prize: Nguyen Huu Quang (D112K13) – for his strong reasoning, fluent pronunciation, and confident stage presence.
• Second Prize: Tran Thi Thao (D112K12) – for her engaging delivery and natural audience interaction.
• Third Prize: Tong Le (D108K12) – for her solid and well-structured performance.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Thi Ai Thi, Vice President of Thanh Do University, presented the certificates and awards to the winners, congratulating them for their outstanding achievements.
