On October 17, 2026, at the 4th Chugoku–Shikoku International Educational Development Forum held at Naruto University of Education, Japan, Vu Nguyen Quang Duy, a researcher at the Institute for Research on Education and Knowledge Transfer (REK Institute), Thanh Do University, received the Best Presentation Award.
The forum is an international academic exchange organized with the participation of Hiroshima University and Naruto University of Education, bringing together lecturers, researchers and graduate students to share research findings in education and development.
At the forum, Duy presented a study entitled "What Future Is Vietnam Building with AI in Education? A Large-scale Analysis of News Media through the Lens of Sociotechnical Imaginaries." The study analyzed 828 articles from 20 Vietnamese news outlets published between 2017 and 2026, comprising 3,004 future-oriented statements, to explore how artificial intelligence (AI) is imagined and discussed in education.
The findings show that expectations of AI center on learning support, AI literacy and human resource development. The study also reveals differences in how media groups portray the prospects and challenges of AI, notably the limited voice of learners in discussions about the future of education.
The award recognizes his research presentation at the forum and helps advance the scientific research and international academic exchange of the REK Institute's researchers. Duy is currently a master's student in the International Education Development Program at Hiroshima University, Japan.
