Hotel Management and Vietnamese Studies students of Thanh Do University took part in an observational internship at InterContinental Hanoi Landmark72. This annual field activity reflects the University's applied learning approach, narrowing the gap between theory and practice, keeping students up to date with real-world knowledge and giving them a close-up view of their future workplace.

Thanh Do University has organized observational internships for its students at partner enterprises. Through this trip, students gained a clearer understanding of their career paths, sharpened their knowledge and skills, and were inspired to pursue research and work in a professional environment.
InterContinental Hanoi Landmark72 is an important strategic partner that hosts Thanh Do University students for internships and works with the University to build a professional training environment where students can practise, gain hands-on experience and combine theory with practice in an "enterprise classroom."
Standing over 346 metres tall, InterContinental Hanoi Landmark72 is the tallest hotel in Hanoi, with 359 premium guest rooms, five creative restaurants and bars offering refined cuisine and panoramic city views, the largest event and conference facilities in Hanoi, and the largest Club InterContinental Lounge in Southeast Asia. Besides touring the elegant premises and modern amenities, students were introduced to, and learned first-hand about, the professional services of an international-class hotel.

Hotel Management and Vietnamese Studies (Tour Guiding) students take part in the observational internship.
Nguyen Van Lai, MA, a lecturer in Vietnamese Studies, accompanied the students on the trip. The activity is part of the enterprise-linked program for students of the Faculty of Tourism and Foreign Languages. It aims to give students real-world experience, foster their creativity and boost their motivation to learn, equipping them for their future careers.
Throughout the visit, Thanh Do University students showed a serious, eager and proactive attitude. They were shown Classic rooms and Suites with luxurious, well-appointed interiors and sweeping city views, and were particularly impressed by the pleasant fragrance filling the rooms. They also visited modern meeting rooms bathed in natural light and named after major Vietnamese cities such as Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City, as well as elegant, fully equipped conference halls.
On the 62nd floor, students explored the hotel's restaurants and bars and heard many interesting stories: the popular afternoon tea at The Hive Lounge; a wide selection of the freshest dishes from three open kitchens (Vietnamese-Chinese, Japanese and Italian) at 3 Spoons; dry-aged beef found only at Stellar Steakhouse; authentic Japanese grilling at Stellar Teppanyaki; and fine wines and enticing cocktails at Q Bar.

Students observe carefully, listening to the guidance and insights shared by the hotel's specialists.

At Club InterContinental on the hotel's top floor, students not only admired the upscale space and first-class amenities reserved for VIP guests but were also struck by the view, which seemed to take in the entire city.
The observational internship helps students recognize and become familiar with a real working environment, laying a foundation for their personal development. Beyond exchanging information, they toured the hotel's work areas, from the main lobby, restaurants, bars and guest rooms to the basement and the staff back-office. The open, elegant and modern workspaces, and especially the "million-dollar" view, delighted the students.

Students broaden their knowledge and experience the workspace of a five-star hotel during the observational internship.
At the end of each internship, students complete a report. To produce the best report and gain the most valuable knowledge, they not only followed every detail closely, listened and took notes on key information shared by the hotel's staff and managers, but also readily asked questions to deepen their understanding.
Such internships bring real, practical value. Far from a simple outing, the trip offered rewarding and enjoyable experiences, new knowledge and research ideas, a better understanding of job positions in the industry, and wider opportunities to become interns at five-star hotels. Going forward, Thanh Do University will continue to organize field trips and internships for students in all majors to help them find the best career direction.
Guided by its training philosophy of "Learning – Practice – Profession – Career," the University always places a strong focus on graduate employment. The observational internship is a very important module, especially for second-year students about to begin their specialized studies. It helps students define their goals more clearly and make long-term plans for their future careers.
