ENHANCING ACADEMIC AND SCIENTIFIC-TECHNICAL AFFAIRS OPERATIONS

19/06/2025

On June 18, Thanh Do University staff and faculty participated in a workshop aimed at enhancing the management of academic and scientific-technical affairs. The event provided a platform for discussion and clarification of key professional practices in these areas.

The workshop was attended by Dr. Nguyen Thuy Van, Vice President, and Prof. Dr. Dao Thi Ai Thi, Vice President, alongside a large number of faculty members and staff.

Opening the session, Dr. Nguyen Thuy Van emphasized the importance of not only teaching but also conducting research and supporting students—key responsibilities for all faculty members. She highlighted that academic and student support work plays an integral role in the university’s mission.

MSc. Nguyen Thi Hao, Deputy Head of the Science & Technology Office, presented a special topic on scientific research and technology operations. The session focused on guiding faculty through the process of proposing, registering, and implementing research projects. This includes everything from drafting proposals, setting objectives, and producing outcomes to the stages of project evaluation, result publication, and intellectual property registration.

The scientific and technological training is a crucial aspect for faculty members. The session provided valuable guidance on the procedures for drafting, assessing, approving, and implementing research topics at various levels. It also covered important standards for publishing scientific papers both domestically and internationally. Recent updates on regulations regarding research activities, project funding management, research collaboration, and intellectual property registration were also thoroughly discussed to ensure faculty members could more effectively carry out their responsibilities.

An additional focus of the workshop was on academic management, particularly for the various levels of education offered, including undergraduate, distance learning, and postgraduate programs (Master’s and PhD). Faculty were trained on the procedures for managing class schedules, course credits, grades, and student transfers, ensuring they are fully updated on recent changes in academic policies.

Faculty members also participated in practical exercises, handling real-life academic scenarios. They discussed issues such as correcting student records with incorrect personal information, processing requests for leave of absence, major changes, and tuition fee adjustments. Through group discussions, faculty members worked together to devise solutions, enhancing their ability to respond effectively to real-world academic challenges.

The workshop also provided time for open discussions, where faculty had their questions answered regarding student support and research activities. Topics ranged from managing student performance and thesis defenses to handling research projects and allocating research funding codes. These discussions helped clarify specific issues and strengthened the transparency and cooperation between departments.

Overall, the workshop not only provided essential knowledge on academic management and scientific-technical research but also enhanced faculty members’ problem-solving skills, interdisciplinary collaboration, and innovative thinking. This initiative is an important step in improving professional expertise and laying a solid foundation for Thanh Do University’s development, aligning with the goals of standardization, modernization, and deeper international integration.
