In anticipation of the 98th anniversary of Vietnamese Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 – June 21, 2023), on the morning of June 16th, Thanh Do University organized a meeting to review the achieved results and express gratitude for the contributions of the editorial board and contributors to the development of the Journal of Scientific Research and Development – the official media agency responsible for scientific research and technology application at Thanh Do University. The Journal of Scientific Research and Development has been established, publishing four issues with nearly 50 high-quality scientific articles, which is the result of the active cooperation of the editorial board and contributors in collaboration with various research units, research groups, and media agencies in different fields, under the support and facilitation of the university’s board of management.
Participating in the meeting were Professors, Doctors in the editorial board and contributors of the Journal of Scientific Research and Development, along with the Teachers in the University’s Executive Board and a large number of Faculty Members of Thanh Do University.
The meeting was organized in a warm and intimate atmosphere, providing an opportunity to meet experts who are members of the editorial board and contributors of the Journal of Scientific Research and Development. At the same time, it was an occasion to look back on the journey of building and developing the Journal, thereby establishing strategic directions for its continued growth, aiming to affirm its position and quality both domestically and internationally.
The program began with sincere gratitude expressed by Dr. Vu Thi Thanh Minh – the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Scientific Research and Development, acknowledging the profound support and facilitation from the University’s Executive Board and the relentless contributions of the editorial board and contributors to the Journal throughout its formation and development.
Also in her sharing, Dr. Vu Thi Thanh Minh summarized some of the achievements made by the Journal during the past period and affirmed the commitment to further develop the Journal, contributing to the overall development of scientific research activities within the university and the country.
The meeting was honored to welcome leading Professors from the State Professorship Council. The professors provided sincere feedback and valuable suggestions, guiding the development goals of the Journal of Scientific Research and Development.
During the meeting, Prof. Tran Tho Dat – Chairman of the Economics Professorship Council – conveyed the editorial board’s congratulations on the achievements of the Journal of Scientific Research and Development in the recent period. He also praised the quality and international standardization of the articles published in the four issues of the Journal, especially those in the field of Economics – Social Sciences. The professor extended his best wishes and placed confidence in the future development and accomplishments of the Journal of Scientific Research and Development, under the precise guidance and support of the Thanh Do University’s board of management.
Prof. Pham Van Duc – Chairman of the inter-disciplinary Professorship Council of Philosophy – Political Science – Sociology – shared practical insights, emphasizing the crucial role of application in scientific articles and raising concerns from the perspective of enhancing the quality of journals to meet international standards and improve their positions in scientific journal rankings.
The professor emphasized that the quality of scientific articles is the key factor determining the success of the Journal during the process of standardization and internationalization. On behalf of the editorial board, the professor expressed confidence and readiness to support the Journal of Scientific Research and Development in its endeavor to become a nationally standardized and internationally renowned scientific journal.
During the meeting, representing the Thanh Do University’s board of management, Dr. Nguyen Thuy Van, Deputy Rector of the University, conveyed congratulations on the achievements made in the Journal’s development journey. She affirmed that this journey will continue with the active contributions of every staff member and faculty within the university, aiming to build a strong internal research community, elevate the university’s position, and contribute to the overall progress of scientific research activities in the country. The research achievements of each member within the Thanh Do University’s research community are the strongest foundation bricks that lay the groundwork for the scientific research movement within the university.
Representing the contributors of the Journal of Scientific Research and Development, Dr. Tran Doan Phu – Head of the Department of Basic Sciences at Thanh Do University – emphasized the significance of awareness regarding the shift in research mindset and the consciousness of continuous self-improvement. He also highlighted the importance of standardizing scientific research conducted by faculty members according to international standards.
In the warm atmosphere of the meeting, the delegates expressed their agreement on the development orientation of the Journal and their desire for closer and more frequent collaboration, not only in research activities but also in organizing scientific events and seminars, continuously promoting the scientific research movement among the university’s staff and faculty. In the upcoming period, the Journal of Scientific Research and Development will continue to enhance the quality of scientific articles published in its issues and prepare the submission dossier for evaluation by the State Professorship Council, aiming to improve its position within the community of domestic scientific journals.
Following the meeting of the editorial board and contributors to commemorate the 98th anniversary of Vietnamese Revolutionary Press Day, a seminar on how to write articles for international scientific journals was presented by the speaker, Dr. Nguyen Huu Cuong, Head of the Quality Assurance Department, and Leader of the Educational Research Group at Van Lang University. The seminar provided essential knowledge and valuable experiences shared by the speaker in the process of scientific research and publishing research results in reputable international journals. With many years of experience as a member of the editorial board for five international journals and as a peer reviewer for numerous WoS/Scopus journals, Dr. Nguyen Huu Cuong introduced and compared the structure and types of scientific articles, as well as the standardized and comprehensible presentation of the different sections of a research paper.
To create a research work or a scientific paper that meets international standards, in addition to the requirements for quality, understanding the evaluation and peer review standards of the journal is an extremely crucial factor. The speaker also pointed out the requirements when writing a scientific paper, including identifying the research subject, research objectives, and the type of scientific paper to be written; understanding the layout and formatting guidelines of each journal; and being familiar with the evaluation criteria and peer review process of each journal. These are essential foundations to build professionalism for researchers in the context of globalization and internationalization.
Dr. Pham Hung Hiep concluded the program with an overview of “Ethics and Integrity” in research and the moral aspect of scientific publishing. Dr. Pham Hung Hiep’s sharing was presented in a comprehensive manner through his practical experiences in scientific research. The speaker emphasized the important issues to consider during the process of writing and publishing an international scientific paper. He provided guidance on adhering to research ethics in detail for researchers, as well as journal staff and employees, to ensure the authenticity and applicability of research results and avoid unnecessary conflicts of interest.
Scientific research is an important task for the faculty members of Thanh Do University, alongside their teaching responsibilities. Therefore, the university’s Board of Management always emphasizes the work of scientific research, encourages academic activities, and organizes updated scientific seminars to publish scientific papers in alignment with international standards.
The successful meeting of the editorial board and contributors to commemorate the 98th anniversary of Vietnamese Revolutionary Press Day and the seminar on how to write articles for international scientific journals serve as motivation for the Journal of Scientific Research and Development to strive further in its development, assert its quality, and elevate its position in scientific research activities within the country. The journal aims to join prestigious international databases like ACI and Scopus in the near future.
