Since 2021, the European Association of Science Editors (EASE) has established the EASE Awards to honor impactful contributions in the field of academic publishing. Over the years, the awards have expanded their categories to recognize and celebrate editors, authors, publishers, as well as individuals and organizations that have contributed to raising the standards of scientific editing and promoting quality publishing practices globally.
In 2024, among the EASE Awards nominations, the book Open Education and Science: A Guide for Educators and Researchers was honored to be selected as one of the top 6 outstanding initiatives in the “Best EASE Initiative” category. This category recognizes EASE members’ projects that have made a significant impact on the community in 2024.
The book was compiled by Dr. Phan Thi Thanh Thao, Rector of Thanh Do University, along with members of the REK Institute, including Dr. Phạm Hiệp, M.A. Nguyễn Linh Chi, and Vũ Nguyễn Quang Duy. On the nomination page, EASE describes it as “an important contribution to the research community in Vietnam”.
Currently, nominations are open for voting by EASE members at the following link: https://ease.org.uk/about-us/ease-awards-scheme/ease-awards-2024/ until January 31, 2025. The results will be announced on February 15.
Open Education and Science: A Guide for Educators and Researchers
The book consists of two main sections, corresponding to chapters on Open Education and Open Science. It provides an overview of these two movements, introduces key open platforms, and offers practical guidelines to help educators, researchers, and readers easily integrate open education and open science practices into their work and studies.
